SHEKINA WARD

Shekina Ward is a native of the Hampton Roads area. She was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia on April 25, 1981. Ever since she was a little girl, she always wanted to make a difference in the world. She wanted to be that star that twinkled, and is excited to let her star shine as one of the 2009 International queens for the International Elite Black Pageant System.

Presently, Shekina is a successful licensed Realtor in Virginia and professional Model. She has been a Realtor for over 3 years and a model for over 6 years. Shekina has had many accomplishments over the years which include her graduating college with honors with a B.A. in Psychology in 2003 and going on to receive her real estate license a few years later. After 6 months with the real estate firm, Shekina was promoted to the Regional Marketing Director.

Shekina has been featured in several local magazines and newspapers which recognized her as being a successful young minority business woman, and she was also featured as Beauty of the Week in Jet magazine in August 2006. Her other projects include New Dominion Pictures, Westin Resort Virgin Islands, David Bridal Shows, numerous promotional modeling events, event spokes model and more! She has even modeled for companies such as Dove Beauty, Axe, Suave, Nivea, Gillette, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Geico, NASCAR, Bacardi, and Malibu to name a few!

What brings Shekina joy is to help people especially children and young adolescents. She feels that she is a great role model for many young women, considering her testimony. She is very grateful and feels very blessed for what God has done in her life and what He continues to do. She enjoys volunteer work in her community and supports various charities as well.

What does Shekina have planned for her future? There are many surprises to come. Shekina feels that this is just a stepping stone for what God really has in store for her life. She has even thought about running for office one day. Who knows what the future may hold.

During her reign as International Elite Black Miss 2009 she will be advocating for higher self esteem in women. Shekina would like for women to have better self images and to start/continue believing in themselves. She wants women to understand that like herself, you can achieve anything you put your mind to by the grace of God.
